Auto-Stash: Round-Ups Are Here

January 24, 2019

2 min read

Imagine you had collected all of your loose change over the years from all your daily purchases—all of the sodas, coffees, meals out—you name it. You’d likely have a good amount of money saved up. Well, that’s the idea behind Round-Ups.

Round-Ups are part of Auto-Stash, a suite of money-saving tools that allows users to save and invest automatically, letting you add to your portfolio by deciding how much money you want to invest ahead of time.

We’ve recently overhauled Auto-Stash and added new features, including Set Schedule, Smart-Stash, and Round-Ups.

We think it’s one of our most important financial tools, because it lets you invest small amounts over time, which Stash believes can help investors build wealth.

Here’s what Round-Ups are all about.

What are Round-Ups? How do they work?

Round-Ups allow users to add a little extra to purchases, and save it automatically.

Every time you spend with the debit card associated with your linked bank account, Stash will round up your purchases to the nearest dollar.

For example: if you spend $6.55 at the grocery store, the transaction will automatically be rounded up to $7.00.

Once your Round-Ups add up to $5 or more, we’ll transfer the money to your personal investment account cash balance.

For now, Round-Ups can only be deposited to your cash balance in your Stash Invest account.

To turn Round-Ups on or off, go to the Account section on the Stash app, and look under the Auto-Stash settings. You can pause Round-Ups at any time.

Important notes about Round-Ups

Round-Ups can help you save and invest more, but here are some things to keep in mind.
