This fund combines more than 850 junk bonds—issued by a diverse array of companies such as Sprint, Altice, and Bausch Health—and can provide higher levels of income compared to higher-quality bonds. Junk bonds are speculative, high-yield, high-risk debt issued by companies with lower credit ratings. Companies typically issue junk bonds to fund projects with uncertain revenue streams. To compensate for the risk, junk bonds tend to offer higher interest rates than government-issued and higher-rated corporate bonds.
