What We Built. Why We Built It. And What’s Next for You.

December 31, 2018

3 min read

In 2015, we created Stash because we believed everyone should be able to unlock their full financial potential.

Every day, our team comes to work with one goal in mind—to build better, smarter tools to help you manage your financial lives and reach your goals. There are over 3 million of you, investing, Auto-Stashing1, and building your retirement savings. Most importantly, you’re learning to become a long-term investor, the strategy we believe is the best to get you to your future goals.

Every piece of Stash is part of a larger picture. Here’s how it all fits together (and what to look for in 2019).

You, saving money

We wanted to put the Stash experience in your hands to help you save every day. This year we introduced Stash debit, which is an FDIC-insured bank account provided through our bank partner, Green Dot Bank and designed especially for Stash investors. With the addition of your Stash debit account, you can begin to see all your money in one place, giving you a fuller picture of your finances.

You, with a strategy

We all need a coach to guide us and keep us on the right path. This year, in addition to refining Stash Coach2, our fun, easy-to-use, financial habit-building tool, we’ve added challenges and quizzes to help you grow your money skills and invest according to the Stash Way. We want you to see how you’re growing and track your progress so you can see how far you’ve come.

You, helping the next generation

We believe that a family that Stashes together can build financial security together. After all, the earlier a Stasher starts, the more time they’ll have in the market. Stash Custodial3 is an easy way to invest on behalf of a minor, helping to build a nest egg for when they’re ready to buy a home, go to college, or whatever dream that young person wants to follow.

We couldn’t be more proud of you for opening tens of thousands of accounts on behalf of a minor you love. Many thanks for continuing to give us feedback to make this product better.

You, giving Stash, not stuff

We wanted to create gifts that can keep on giving. Instead of receiving another ugly Christmas sweater or tech gadget that will be obsolete in a year, with Stash Gifting4 you can ask for an investment in yourself. This way, you can tell your loved ones that financial security is important to you and maybe inspire them to think about their own futures.

You, getting smarter

The most important investment you can make is in your own financial literacy. Our StashLearn5  team’s mission is to write articles that grow your depth of knowledge, simplify saving and investing concepts, and help make you smarter. We listen to your questions and work hard to answer them every day to help you feel more confident about the world around you.

You, making your money work

We wanted you to get more out of the purchases you make every day and use them to kickstart your savings, get additional cash back on top of your everyday credit card rewards, and power your investments. Stash Cash Back6 is the easiest way to add more juice to your savings while you shop.

Stash, working for you

In 2019, we’ll keep streamlining, refining, and growing the services you’ve come to depend on.

Expect innovative savings tools, a shiny new Auto-Stash7 with some really cool surprise features, tons of improvements, and so many more exciting ways to help you reach your goals.

Keep Stashing

You’re our heroes because every day, you decide that you’re worth investing in, that you deserve a brighter future. We’ll continue to work for you, listen to you, and grow with you.

We’re honored and humbled to work for all three million of you! We’ve got so much in store. 2019 will be the Year of You.

Keep on Stashing. We’re here for you every step of the way.

Best,

Brandon and Ed
